Faux Départ / Re-Start (Par Frank)

3 semaines après notre départ, beaucoup de choses se sont passées, mais nous n'avions certainement pas pensé que le moteur éclaterait dans les premières journées.  Il a donc fallu 2 semaines et demie pour réparer le moteur.  Nous sommes arrivés dans le village de Lowville, un village de 2000 habitants situé à l'entrée des Adirondacks.

Après examen du moteur, notre nouveau super mécano de chez Adirondack Motor Sport, Tim, nous dit qu'on pourrait prendre le moteur de son pick up VW et le mettre dans notre westfalia.. il s'agit d'un moteur Rabit.. il faudra seulement changements les differentes pièces autour et le tour est joué...  On a remonté le moteur au complet, pièce par pièce, ce fut un cours intensif de mécanique pour moi, je comprends maintenant à quoi sert la pompe à l'eau, la pompe à gaz, le filtre à l'huile et comment circule les différents liquides dans le moteur.  Aussi,  j'ai eu le temps de confectionner un petit vidéo promotionnel pour la 2e business de Tom et Jana Ingersoll... JCT Truck Caps... pour des boîtes de pick-up... Voir vidéo à la fin... 

On est donc reparti vendredi le 6 novembre, à travers les Adirondacks, traversant du même coup une des premières tempêtes de neige.  Il était temps.  Merci à Tim et Jana qui nous ont permis de parcourir 1500 km depuis 3 jours, et atteint 32 degrés Celcius hier en Virginie.  Nous sommes maintenant tellement plus en confiance avec ce moteur tout jeune... 160 000 km  remis à neuf...

Prochains états... Mississipi et Louisiana.. Hiiiiihaaa!!

3 weeks after we left, we are finally rolling south.. After our engine exploded, we had to find someone to fix it.. and that's when we find Tim Ingersoll at Adirondacks Motor Sport.. He and his wife Jana have their garage in Lowville, NY state, where we had the chance to see Amish people, they seemed pretty happy and I heard that their bread is pretty good...

So after two weekds of replacing all the parts on a new engine, and changing everything that could eventually brake down.. we finally arrived with a beautyful superb engine, top clean with new water pump, oil pump, gaskets, new wires and hoses... Now I understand how it works... at least a lot lot more than before, after cleaning the parts, seeing everything that bolts here and there how the liquids circulate.  Also during these two weeks  I made a small commercial for Tim and Jana and their second business : JCT Truck Caps. See their video at the end... 

So we left finally on november 6th thru the Adirondacks Moutains, where we had to pass a small snow storm...  We rolled rolled rolled for 3 days and 1500 km.. or 1000 miles to finally find the sun in Virginia with something like 30 Celcius or 80 Ferenheit... Thanks to Tim and Jana for their hospitality, and to this pick-up VW who gave gave his heart to our Westfalia...  and his actually waiting for a donation from a Turbo Diesel Jetta, hope everything goes fine.

Next States :  Mississipi and Louisiana...   Watch out!!!
